 WHAT IS HISTORIC ENTERTAINMENT?
Historic Entertainment, Inc. is a small, friendly, community theater club. We've been around since 1985 and we are entirely self-financed. We enjoy staging
all kinds of performances and we want our audiences to see the best shows possible.
We are organized as a Florida not-for-profit corporation.
HOW CAN YOU JOIN?
We have an 'open door' membership policy. No auditions are required to join us. Just come along for an
afternoon and watch us rehearse or read for a part if you want.
STAGE COMBAT
We are best known for our stage combat. We use a standard combat system as
defined by the Society of American Fight Directors that focuses on safety above
all. If you have any questions regarding the safety of our combat
system, please
write to us and we will be happy to send you our Safety Brochure.
WILL YOU BE FORCED INTO THE LIMELIGHT?
No. You'll move at your own pace. If you prefer to play minor roles until you've
built up confidence, that's OK. On the other hand, Historic Entertainment doesn't believe that you have to have put in
many years as a minor character before you can be cast in principal
part.
If you want to be in the limelight, we'll try and accommodate you. Bear in mind, though, that if you join us once rehearsals for a
performance have already started, you might have to take whatever's available.
 SO - WHAT ATTRIBUTES SHOULD YOU HAVE?
A SENSE OF HUMOR. If you can act, sing, perform gymnastics or dance that would be a bonus. But more
important than anything else, you should want to have fun and not be afraid of a
little hard work.
AGE RANGE
Nominally our age range is 13+, but most members are in their 20s and 30s,
with some in their 40s & 50s, and from a wide variety of backgrounds. We're not
sexist, ageist, racist, heightist or any other kind of ist!
REHEARSALS
Our performance season typically runs from September to February. Occasionally, we also
perform for private parties and events to benefit local charities. We rehearse
once a week, on Sundays. Rehearsals usually run from 2:00pm to 6:00pm after which we can usually be found
at the local hot dog stand. As we get closer to a performance the rehearsal
times can be extended earlier. Rehearsals are informal (to say the least).
